Well week one has been a success! Down 6 pounds this week! Its definitely a good start to a long journey! Of course, I know that the hard part is yet to come! The first couple weeks should be the easiest. From here on out I am looking to lose 2 pounds a week.
I have had some challenges so far, but have held pretty strong. I am just focusing on making better decisions than I did before. For instance yesterday.... I had to take my Granny to her doctor appointments and normally I would have made that an excuse for not working out, but managed to get to the gym for 20 minutes of elliptical before getting ready to go. Then we ate at Red Lobster for lunch and normally I could eat like 4-5 of those cheddar bay bisquits!!! But, I only had 2 and had flounder so I kept within my range. Then we had my brother's birthday party at Applebees and I made better choices than normal there too! Still had some fries and then a couple bites of the kids cake they ordered. (The Triple Chocolate Meltdown..... OMG.... that may be the best dessert I have ever tasted and I wanted to lick the plate clean but luckily Brian and Kate were good enough to talk me down and give the plate to the waitress!! haha) So..... they were for sure better choices than I would have made 2 weeks ago and I still stayed within my calorie range for the day! So I considered it a success! I also looked up what I normally would have had on a day like that...... around 1500 calories at each setting!! No wonder I have this extra weight!! :)
Looking forward to this week and whats to come in the future! I know that when I am getting up and exercising and when I am eating better, everything feels better! I have more energy to get the things done that I need to in order to keep my life in good balance!

New Beginnings
Well as I look back at my Blog I noticed that I have not blogged since March 2012. After reading my blog, I felt like I was on track with my weight at that point and making progress. Then at the end of March we had a very close friend pass away and the stress and worry of everything overtook every aspect of my life! Its been almost 9 months since I have blogged and I have not done anything beneficial for my body in 9 months besides take my Juice Plus everyday and exercise here and there! I am very thankful for that because without that I know that my health would not be near as good!
So... here I come forward again, putting myself out there that I want to be healthier! And with that said.... I mean at a healthier weight as well. The reason that I am blogging is because I think maybe through my journey I can help someone else along the way and maybe people can help me stay accountable as well!
I am thankful for "new beginnings" and I know that you can restart and get back on track at any time, but a new year is just exciting! I look forward to setting new goals and reaching them for our family!
So my goal physically is to lose 2 pounds a week ! I will be checking back in weekly! And if anyone wants to participate in this as well..... please contact me and we can help each other! My email is jillwagner44@hotmail.com. I will be putting back on my BodyMedia armband and counting the calories taken in and burned everyday. I am also going to get some kind of exercise 5 days a week! Even if its only a short walk some days, it will be better than nothing at all!
Also.... I know that when my life is balanced I will succeed more at everything. So I am focusing on mentally and spiritually as well. I am looking over finances and making sure we have a new budget for 2013 and following Dave Ramseys guidelines. (love that book!) Also.... going to be reading books for personal development and put away 50 shades of Grey and the Twilight series for awhile. :) Also going to focus on getting into some kind of devotion everyday! I know that if I can place my priorities right.... my life will be much easier with balance!

Its not what you know... Its what you do!
Well here I go again! I havent blogged in several weeks and I have gone back and forth with my weight. Losing some weeks then gaining other weeks. Being discouraged, feeling defeated, then starting over week after week with some success, but still not staying focused enough to continue with it.
So today, March 19th I am back on track. I am feeling very good about where I am and what I am doing. I have started an 8 week challenge/competition and its going to be based on losing weight and gaining muscle. So I know that I cant just go on some diet and starve myself for 8 weeks, but actually have to do things the right way and exercise everyday! The goal is to win.... but even moreso than that it is to get me in the routine of eating this certain way and exercising: both cardio and weight training. When that becomes a habit.... I will have felt like I won! I feel like I have learned so much and still learning everyday, but putting what I know into action is the struggle. It is much easier said than it is done! I am still wearing my Body Media armband and loving it and what it can tell me! But also logging my exercise and food into a book for the next 8 weeks for sure so that I can look back and tell just what I have done! So.... I will be blogging every week again just for the extra accountability!

What's going on Between your Ears??
Down 1.5 pounds this week for a total of 10 pounds in 4 weeks!! Very happy with the progress that I am making! The gym is becoming a habit and I dont even think about it anymore. It used to be a question in my head at night or in the morning.... I would try to figure out if I really had time for it and just make excuse after excuse..... but now its just part of the routine! I know that I have to get to the gym and do something for at least 30 minutes to meet my daily goals! So much of losing weight or reaching any goal is what goes on between your ears!! Am I telling myself its going to be a great day at the gym or am I looking for an excuse not to go??
I am also taking my weigh in day on Tuesdays and making it like my "cheat" day. I am allowing myself to eat something that I normally wouldnt have throughout the week... so I feel like I am being rewarded every Tuesday for the progress!
I did slack a little this week on recording every thing that went into my mouth!! So this week I will do better on that!!

Are you involved or Committed?
I weighed in this morning and I am down another 3.5 pounds for this week! Feeling really great about that today! As I am reflecting on the past 3 weeks of starting this healthy change for myself I am trying to pay close attention to things in the past that have stopped me after losing weight for a few weeks in a row. I was talking to a friend yesterday and realized that never in my life have a REALLY lost weight. I would lose a couple pounds here and there for a couple weeks but then I would give up for some reason or another and then put on all of the weight I had lost plus some back on. I was involved at that point but not really committed to the process.
I can remember wondering in the past when I wasnt overweight how people let theirselves get to that point of being obese. I had thought that if it was me that I would notice when I put on 5 extra pounds and then really work to get those off. Well as I got older.... I realized that it wasnt that easy! I have tried to look at when I really started to gain weight and blamed pregnancies in the past for some of it, but as I look back I lost all my weight after I had Brandon. After I had Brent I lost most of my weight, but hung on to a few pounds there and then after I had Aliyah I hung on to some more weight there, but the majority of my weight gained has been in the past 7 years since she has been born! That is pretty sickening to me to know that I dont have anything to "blame" it on but myself!
I am really focused on not letting that happen this time and remembering that the prize of better health along this journey is totally worth it! I am committed to working hard toward my goal!!
I try to keep myself motivated in my weight loss goal and in other areas of my life by reading personal growth books and love looking at motivational quotes! So when I post those.... its for my own encouragement and just so maybe someone else can get something out of it too!!
Here is one I read this morning: "The difference between involvement and commitment is like ham and eggs. The Chicken is involved; the pig is committed!" Martina Navratilova
Thanks for all the encouragement from you all that are following my blog to this point!! I am committed to overcome this weight loss battle!!

Making my kids my Reason instead of my Excuse!
Well I dont have any great numbers to post this week, but anything is good as long as its in the right direction! I lost half a pound this week and most weeks I would be disappointed with that number.... but this week I am just happy to see a loss!
Weekends are always my hardest time because I dont have my normal routine and having the kids home all day, etc... Well with having 2 snow days then the weekend and then MLK day, it was like a 5 day weekend for us! So challenging to say the least!
I did still bake and cook like I do on snow days and love that part of it.... so I know that influenced my lack of weight loss this week, but looking on the positive side of things, I still exercised all of those days but 1 which is a change for me.... because normally I would have used my kids being home as my excuse not to work out!
I have learned with my Juice Plus Franchise to make my kids my REASON instead of my EXCUSE for doing things differently than others may..... and the same thing goes for this! I want to be healthy for my kids! I want to be a good example of how to live and health is a part of that! I also want my kids to see that its ok to set goals and even if they arent reached for the time that you set them.... that its ok! You can always reset your goals but the main thing is setting them in the first place!

Making Progress!
Well it has been 1 week since I started with my new healthy lifestyle change and weighed in this morning and have lost 4.5 pounds! Very exciting to see some progress! My goal is to lose 2 pounds per week so any extra on that is a bonus!
I have been wearing my Body Media Armband and loving it! It has been an eye opener for me because I thought I was more active than what I really am! I have to make a conscious effort everyday to exercise and then just do little things throughout the day that will burn more calories! It monitors my calories burned and calories taken in, how many steps I take each day, how much I sleep and how much vigorous and moderate activity I have each day! Its great just to be able to check it all throughout the day and see how my progress is. I know that I have to burn 1000 more calories than I take in each day to lose 2 lbs per week.... so If I havent met my burn.... I have to get up and do something!! :) (message me if you want to know more about it... I would recommend it to anyone and I think Jared Lane at Fitness Fuel can get them for you! )
I am in a totally different frame of mind with weightloss this time than ever before! I dont feel like I have deprived myself at all....just figured out that I can still eat things that I enjoy.... I just have to decide if its worth working to burn some more calories for!
So....I am counting week one as a success and looking forward to seeing how this week goes! Will blog weekly and keep everyone updated and keep me accountable!

New Beginnings!!
Well it is January 3rd and 2 days before my 31st birthday! It is time to think about the past year and the goals I set and the goals that I met for 2011. I had many accomplishments with my Juice Plus Franchise and with my family and friends I had an absolutely wonderful year!! I am very blessed for what God has given me and look forward to 2012 and what it brings! I know that I am going to have to work hard and I am willing to do that in order to meet my goals for 2012!
As I look back at the past year..... there is one place for sure that sticks out that I did not accomplish what I thought that I would ..... and that would be in the category of .... you know it......WEIGHT LOSS!!! This is something that haunts me over and over every year as a New Years Resolution! Thank God for "New Beginnings" For 2012 I am setting the goal for myself to be healthier! And I know for me that includes losing some weight! So I am going to need some help from my family and friends to help me accomplish this!! I had talked about doing an accountablility call weekly on a free conference line and just share what is working and not working for anyone who has also made this decision to get healthier! Or any other ideas will be appreciated! I will be blogging again every week for accountablity also! Let me know if you want to be a part of that!
So I know that making changes starts with a decision and I have already done that! The next step would be to decide how I am going to do it! I asked for a BodyMedia Armband for Christmas and received one and just got it set up today! It is something that I will be wearing everyday that will record the number of calories that I burn and how many I take in! (similiar to what they wear on the Biggest Loser) After playing around with it today.... I am VERY excited to start this journey! It will also share my progress with the App that goes with it on FaceBook! I put in all of my goals today and it said that with following the program, I should be at my goal weight by the middle of October! 10 Months!!! I can do this!
I know that with any goal you also have to tie into it the reason you are doing it! So here goes....
MY WHY FOR A HEALTHIER WEIGHT:
1.Overall better health!!
2. Not embarrassed of how I look.
3. Just to Feel better!
4. Do more things! From Just playing with the kids to skydiving!
5. Walk the walk... not just talk the talk with my JP+ Franchise
6. Reduce my risk of all diseases!!
7. Be here for my kids! Never want my kids to go through losing a parent at a young age like I experienced.
8. Taking part in triathalons and 5k's again!
9. So I can go shopping and enjoy it again!
10. Being nutritionally and physically fit!!
Ok....so there it is! Next week I will share my progress for this week! Please let me know if you want to be accountablity partners in my journey!

Learning to Discipline my Disappointment
It has been a couple of weeks since I have blogged about my weight loss journey... and that has been for a couple of reasons: I have been very busy and out of town for some of that time and because with gaining some weight back that I had lost last week... I wasnt very proud of myself and wasnt feeling quite like putting it out there to everyone! BUT..... I have been thinking about this and I am trying to be very transparent so that I can help more people with their journey also and having to post the bad with the good is part of that! So, here it is.... I gained back 2 pounds a couple weeks ago and this week gained back 1.5 pounds :(
The positive side of this is that normally I would have given up completely already and sabotaged myself to the point of no return with eating so much and convincing myself that maybe this wasn't a good idea afterall and that its not worth it to be a healthy weight! (see I am really screwed up sometimes! )
BUT.... I do know that it is totally worth it to get these pounds off and to be that example of who I want to be! So I am going to have to figure out another way to be accountable and stay on track! I have had a couple people ask me about doing this weight loss journey along with me and I am thinking that this is the key! What if whoever wants to be a part of this can let me know and we could still weigh in the privacy of our own homes, but one time a week get on a conference line and record our progress together and talk about our successes, concerns and maybe even great recipes, etc...... If you are interested... please inbox me and let me know if you have any other ideas!
People who are overweight are around 70% more likely to develop any health condition than someone who is at the recommended weight! I can do this and will do this... but it's definitely going to be a journey! Thank you to everyone for your support and please let me know if you have any other suggestions for me!
Take care of your body, its the only place you have to live!!!

My first week of weightloss!!
My first week of my healthy journey is done!! I am 5 1/2 pounds lighter!! Dont know if that will be the hardest week or not.... but I managed to get through it! I definitely had some challenges to overcome as this was a very stressful work week for me without trying to eat right! I am NEVER hungry in the mornings and the day after I said I was going to start this diet, I woke up to my stomach growling!!! I'm sure it was all in my mind so I tried to ignore it and go on about my day. I was hungry most of this first day but got to eat plenty of good food and by the second day my stomach wasnt growling near as much!!!
I noticed that I am a very emotional eater. After a long day at work on Wednesday I wanted nothing more that to go thru a drive thru and pig out on something bad for me!!!(Hamburger and fries is what I had in mind!) But since I was prepared, I managed to get myself and the kids home and make the dinner that I had planned! Preparation is a huge factor in losing weight! If my refrigerator is stocked with fruits and veggies and things that I can cook then I am way less likely to go grab something from a fast food place! I have also found that it is very hard to eat healthy when you go to a fast food place, unless its Subway, and find something that I can eat that will fill me up...... so its better for me to cook at home! My family did eat Hunt's in front of me one day and that was hard.... but I decided to get something better than that option for myself and just got a grilled chicken salad from El Tapatio.... so I didnt feel like I was being mistreated!
I normally have the mind set that I need something big for dinner, like a meal and then dessert.... but actually this week I even had some smoothies with just fruit, ice, water, and JP+ complete in it instead of dinner and I was completely satisfied! I know that most of losing weight is a mind set for me!
I tried to eat the best I could on the diet that I am trying to follow..... but one night got very hungry for something sweet! I normally would have whipped up a batch of cookies and eaten a bunch of the dough and then some cookies when they came out of the oven.... but instead, I made a recipe of chocolate JP+ complete, oats, honey, and peanut butter and mixed it all together and rolled it into balls. They tasted like a no-bake cookie.... but they were much healthier! So even though I cheated a little bit, I still managed to eat something better for me than I would have a week ago! And the kids loved them too!!!
The exercise part I pretty well failed in this past week.... but planning to do better this week!!
I am finding that there are many great recipes out there and I am trying to follow a certain diet..... but modifying it where I can make it last for myself and my family is the main key! I dont want this to be a diet that I am on..... but a lifestyle change!

Who is that in the Mirror???
Have you ever been shopping or been somewhere and you catch a glance of someone in the mirror that you think...”oh my!...poor thing.. glad I dont look like that" and then you realize that the person that you caught the glimpse of was you!!! Well that has happened to me! It was like a rude awakening to myself when I realized that the person I had become physically didnt match up to the person that I feel that I am... at all!!
I can remember being young and skinny and thinking that people who got to be overweight were crazy for not losing a few pounds when they realized that they had put them on and thinking that I would NEVER let myself look like that! Well..... guess what?? It happened!
Over the past 13 years of becoming a mom and going through all of those changes I knew that my body would never be the same.... but come on... I have got to be able to do better than this!! I mean.... this is what I preach to people: Health and Nutrition and I offer solutions that we can do to stay healthy such as Juice Plus. Which is a wonderful product and job that I am very proud of, but recently had the revelation that I am talking the talk but not walking the walk at all! Yes... I take my Juice Plus, but I need to be a better example to everyone around me..... Especially my kids!
So to be honest this is NOT the first time that I have noticed that I am overweight!! I notice this on a regular basis and think ..."I am going to do something about this!" I am going to start on a diet! So then comes the hard part.... what diet am I going to try to do? Then I decide that I will wait and start on "Monday" to give me the best start! So I eat the entire time of waiting til Monday like each meal may be the last one that I may ever get! Then I start on the diet on Monday and do really well! Tuesday comes and I do really well again!! Wednesday comes and a friend calls and asks if I can go to lunch and I contemplate it and then say sure (because its not everyday your friend invites you to lunch) and I think that I will just eat healthy while I am there! Then we sit down at the table and I argue with myself that this may be a good day to treat myself and I will do better the rest of the week... so I order whatever I want! Then Thursday comes and I think...wow, I didnt do very well yesterday and its almost the weekend.... so you know what... I am just going to eat whatever I want again today and I can start this next week! Sometimes I try it again on Monday and sometimes I just wait a few more weeks and be sure that I eat plenty of good meals inbetween... just incase that I do start on Monday!
Can you believe that??? Even as I write it I think what is wrong with this person??!!!
I have contemplated doing many of the fad diets and other ways to lose weight out there ..... and not that there is something wrong with all of them, but for me, I really want to be able to say that I had enough to do it without pills, shots, surgery, etc....(but if this doesnt work... I may change my mind! haha)
Maybe some of you have never had these kinds of thoughts and have never dealt with a weight issue, but let me assure you that food is a horrible thing to have an addiction to and that I am ready to shed these pounds once and for all!!! So....I am going to start blogging about my progress and what I am thinking and feeling as I start my journey to a healthier me!!! I am going to try to be very transparent so that others may learn and benefit from my journey! I believe that I CAN and WILL look better and be healthier in my 30's than I did in my 20's! I will also have a better self image of myself! I know who I am on the inside and I know that is the main thing that matters.... but I want my physical image to reflect the person that I am! So... more will be to come and if you want to start this journey with me.... message me at jillwagner44@hotmail.com or on Facebook!! I would love to have more people involved so that we can support each other!
